Exact speed of the solid aluminum platter

The Elac Miracord 60 has a built-in optical sensor that sends its signal to a PID algorithm in the microcontroller. This in turn regulates the speed of the DC motor, resulting in ultra-low speed variations and wow & flutter measurements. The resonance-free aluminum platter is relevant here.

The platter is milled from a 22 mm solid block of aluminum and provided with rubber damping material on the underside. A 2 mm thick felt mat completes the setup.
