Van Den Hul The FIRST® Metal Screen RCA is an extension of our “The FIRST®” series of coaxial Linear Structured Carbon® (LSC) interconnects, designed for high-quality audio and SPDIF digital signal transport.
The FIRST® Metal Screen is a special version of our The FIRST® with the same basic construction, but as the name suggests, a densely woven high-quality metal (*) screen has been added that covers the Linear Structured Carbon® shield.
As such, The FIRST® Metal Screen can be considered the coaxial (unbalanced) version of our The SECOND® balanced Linear Structured Carbon® interconnect that is also shielded with metal. *: High-purity dense Silver coated high purity Matched Crystal OFC.
The main difference between the members of our “The FIRST®” series is the resistance of their shield series; Our The FIRST®, The FIRST® Ultimate, and The FIRST® Metal Screen gradually show lower shield resistance. (Respectively: ~14, ~4.8, and 0.0049 Ohm/m.).
While both the former 100% metal-free versions are hum and noise-free in over 95% of all line-level connection applications, the FIRST® metal shield with its lowest shielding resistance is specially designed for those situations where excessive ground currents are present through the cable shielding (e.g. with some tube equipment).
In complex grounding situations, and/or where additional shielding against strong external electrical interference is required (e.g. in areas heavily polluted by electrical noise).
