Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO
The Debut Carbon was already an almost perfect turntable, especially considering the price tag and materials used. Now Pro-Ject has once again gathered around the drawing board. They have conducted a lot of research to make the Debut Carbon even better. Their main objective has not changed over the years.
They still aim to build affordable, high-quality turntables that not only look incredibly luxurious and modern, but also have amazing sound quality.
Debut Carbon EVO
The Debut Carbon EVO focuses on the core aspects that make a turntable sound great: Technically correct design – expert craftsmanship – handcrafted in the European Union. This turntable is built to last a lifetime!
Additional features that could have a negative impact on overall audio performance or longevity are omitted. At this level of sonic performance, it is always better to opt for a separate phono stage. These phono preamplifiers are also available with Bluetooth connectivity or a USB interface – Pro-Ject offers a wide portfolio of components at different performance levels to suit your budget.
The previous metal platter was already heavier than any other on the market, but metal plates inherently have a downside: resonance.
The TPE technology (thermoplastic elastomer) helps to completely dampen the resonance and also increases the weight by 1.7kg.
Because the TPE is mounted on the inside of the edge of the platter, the moving energy will also create a flywheel effect. The result is an even quieter and smoother operation with less wow and flutter.
The old Debut Carbon had one major drawback that we definitely wanted to improve on our new EVO model. Up to now, the Debut series has been shipped with 4 damped plastic feet. The new Debut Carbon EVO uses 3 height-adjustable metal feet to ensure a flat placement on any surface.
By using only 3 feet, stability on uneven surfaces is increased, as a perfectly level turntable is essential for truly high-end sound.
Newly designed motor suspension
The Debut Carbon EVO features a newly designed motor suspension. The motor in a turntable always vibrates, that’s just how it is. Both the cartridge and stylus are very sensitive components and the vibrations are also transferred to your speakers and can cause mechanical noise. That’s why it’s so important to decouple and isolate the motor from the base.
The old suspension almost always worked perfectly, but they have improved the old design to consistently tackle vibrations better than before. Pro-Ject has utilized its technology and experience gained from the past and incorporated damping techniques from high-end turntables into the Debut Carbon EVO.
Looking at more advanced TPE damping and sandwich constructions with high mass, a new motor and suspension have been selected for the Debut Carbon EVO.
